How to create a Messy Updo

Always on style – Watch this video tutorial with Vanessa to find out how to create the perfect chic but Messy Updo in no time. Look below for a detailed guide with all individual steps.

Step 1: Section off front part of hair

First of all, take a front section of hair that you don’t want in your bun. Twist that section and clip it up, so it’s out of your way for the next steps.

Step 2: Brush your hair

Brush your hair gently. Use a little hairspray to get rid of frizz and add texture to your hair.

Step 3: Put your hair in a pony tail

Put the rest of a hair in a high pony tail. Try to have the pony tail right on your crown.

Step 4: Twist hair into a bun

Twist the hair of your pony tail around it to create a bun. Pin the bun in place with bobby pins. Secure the bun with bobby pins.

Step 5: Curl front hair

Open up the tied up front hair. Curl it with a curling iron to get beautiful, loose waves. For a stylish and very modern look, try not to make it too perfect. A little messiness is the right way to go.

Step 6: Secure front hair

Pin front hair in the back of your head. Use a bobby pin and make sure that you tuck it under your hair, so it won’t show. Pro tip: Use the bobby pin with the curved side to your head. This way, the pin will stay in place longer!

Step 7: Beautify your bun

If you want to beautify your bun, twist the remaining hair around the bun. Clip it with bobby pins.

Step 8: Secure your hairdo

Almost done! Fix your stylish Messy Updo with hairspray to make sure that the hairstyle will stay in place as long as possible.
